Upmarket
Koonung Cottage has hosted craft markets, garage sales, art shows and quilt shows. The semi-regular events have evolved with time. The most recent incarnation is the Upmarket, held in 2008, 2009 and 2011.
Several individual cottage participants; the patchwork, woodturners and bark art groups; and some local home-based craft businesses had stalls at the market. All items were handmade by the sellers, who paid a table fee to the Cottage. The event has been very successful and attracted large crowds.
The Upmarket was developed to give Cottage participants an opportunity to sell their creations. Some were encouraged by their success to take the next step into establishing their own business.
